With a passion for the outdoors and travel, Jerry pursued a varied career in geology. This consisted of 6 years in the oil industry,
followed by 34 years as a self employed consulting engineering geologist (while at the same time teaching field geology as a lecturer
at UC Santa Cruz for 20 years). Presently semi-retired he continues both teaching and consulting on a part-time basis. However, he
has always had an appreciation for art and enjoys pencil drawing of intricate detail from photos of his travels. Most of his subjects
are animals and landscapes of the Southwest, Eastern Sierras and Africa. He continues his pursuit with occasional art classes,
and continues to draw at his home in Santa Cruz, California
